"What, what is it?" you ask, panicking and sitting up.
"Just lie back down, you have a broken rib." he pushed you to the table again and prodded around the area that it hurt the most. "Er... broken ribs. Try to keep your breathing even. You can't do any heavy lifting, bending, exercise..." you sat up and he began wrapping your waist and chest in a cloth wrap. "Really," he said, finishing the wrap, "you can't do anything."
"But," you start, watching him now coat the wrap with a plaster cast, "I live alone."
"Then you'll stay here." he stated matter-of-factly, "What's your address and I'll send someone to pick up some clothes for you?"
You mumble out your home address and hand him a key to the door, still numb from shock.
"Good," he smiled charmingly at you and caused your heart to skip a beat, "I'll help you back to your room where you can get some rest." He took your hand and helped you to your room. When you were rested comfortably in the bed, he placed some small pills that were in his pocket onto the nightstand next to your bed. "Just in case." he nodded and left the room.
You soon began to doze off when you heard the door creak open slightly. In the doorway were the two boys that were in the kitchen before. Smiling, you began to try to get them to tell you where you are.
"It's ok," you say smoothly, "I won't hurt you, come in." The bubbly one from before slowly made his way into the room but the other just stayed by the door.
"What are your names?"
"Papa calls me Feli and he's Roma." the little boy said, sitting on your bed. You pulled him into you lap.
"Feli, huh?" you say, poking his nose and causing the boy to giggle and nod, "and who's you're papa?"
"His name is Toni and-" Feli was cut off my his brother.
"He is not our papa!" Roma shouted, outraged.
"But, Uncle Toni said to call him 'Papa'..." the once happy boy turned quiet.
"And you shouldn't be talking with her! We don't know who that woman is!" Roma pointed an accusing finger at you. You turned hurt and began to hum a song to yourself, like you had when your parents fought in your childhood. Gradually getting louder, the children listened to the tune.
"Bella?" Roma asked, now quiet, "Will you sing that song for us?"
You were startled by the request but obliged.
"Dormi, dormi, dormi, o bel babin Re divin, Re divin. Fa la nanna, o fantolino, Re divin, Re divin. Fa la nana, o fantolino." you closed your (e/c) eyes and sang through the song, </span>opening them to see Toni staring lovingly at you. You looked around to see the two boys asleep, Roma must have crawled in with you when you sang. Toni smiled and walked into the room, picking the boys up. Without saying a word, he carried the two out, into their rooms, you presumed. When he came back, you were sleeping. Toni sat on the side of the bed, stroking your (h/c) hair.
"I've never seen Roma like that." he smiled sadly, "How?" you moaned in your sleep and turned towards him. The Spaniard shook his head slightly and left you to sleep, humming the song you had sang to the boys.
